Reading, UK – Monday 11th November 2024 – Trinity Concert Band is proud to announce its 2025 charity partnership with Prostate Cancer UK as part of its annual More than Music campaign. Throughout the coming year, the band will host a series of concerts and outdoor performances to raise funds for this vital cause, with proceeds from concert raffles, interval refreshments, and collection buckets all supporting Prostate Cancer UK.
David Yates, Chairman of Trinity Concert Band, shared his excitement about the new partnership, saying, “One in eight men will get prostate cancer, but all too often they find out by complete chance, too late. By supporting Prostate Cancer UK, we aim to raise not just funds but awareness, which is equally important in the fight against this disease. Our dads, brothers, partners, and friends deserve the best chance, and early detection is key.”
More than Music
The More than Music campaign began in 2021 as a way for Trinity Concert Band to actively engage with and support the local community. Each year, band members nominate and vote for a new charity partner, and the chosen organisation benefits from a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign across the band’s events. Since its launch, the More than Music campaign has raised over £3,000 for local charities.
“As a community band and charity ourselves, we understand how crucial it is to support those around us,” explained David. “The name More than Music perfectly captures our goals—to make a difference beyond our performances. Our wonderful audience has been incredibly supportive, and we’re grateful for their help in championing each charity we support.”
Prostate cancer is not always life-threatening, but when it is, early detection greatly improves the chances of a cure. In partnering with Prostate Cancer UK, Trinity Concert Band hopes to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis, support ongoing research, and contribute to campaigns that make life-saving information more accessible.
First Fundraising Event
Trinity Concert Band invites the public to join them at their first fundraising event for Prostate Cancer UK: their annual Christmas concert at Reading Minster on Sunday 8th December. It will be an evening of festive music, community spirit, and the first of many opportunities to support Prostate Cancer UK in the year ahead.
