Who we are...
Trinity Concert Band is a community wind band; its members spanning a wide range of ability from talented amateurs to professional standard. Founded in 2001 to bring together musicians who enjoy playing with a group of friendly people, the band now comprises 45 players whose enthusiasm and dedication results in concerts performed to a very high standard.
We also have several smaller groups.
What we play...
Being a full symphonic wind band, Trinity Concert Band is able to play a wide variety of music. Our repertoire includes classical transcriptions, original concert band compositions, music from stage and screen, and light popular music.
Where and when we play...
We perform up to five formal concerts a year which provides enormous scope for rich and varied programmes. Recent venues include The Great Hall (Reading University), All Saints Church (Wokingham), Leighton Park School (Reading) and of course Trinity Church, Lower Earley, our home and practice venue. Summer brings the opportunity to perform at bandstands across the area.
And it’s not just about concerts...
Annual workshops are designed to challenge the band with unfamiliar music under the direction of a guest conductor. At the end of the day we open the doors to the public to listen to a mini concert and help finish off any cakes that may be left!!
The social activities encompass a pub quiz team, post-concert drinks, dinners and band tours both home and abroad.
National Concert Band Festival
In recent years the band has attended the National Concert Band Festival, a day long festival of music where bands are judged on their performance. We have received several gold and three platinum awards. The latter gives the band automatic entry into the national finals. In April 2018, the band travelled to Manchester where they were thrilled to be only one of two bands to receive a platinum award.
