Reading, 23 October 2025 – Trinity Concert Band is pleased to announce that it has chosen Parenting Special Children (PSC) as its More than Music charity partner for 2026, following a successful year of fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK.
Over the past year, the band and its audiences helped raise a total of £1,146, which was donated to both Prostate Cancer UK and the Reading Prostate Cancer Support Group. The Reading support group attended the band’s concerts, raising awareness of prostate cancer and providing information and support to local men and their families.
Looking ahead to 2026, Trinity Concert Band will focus on supporting Parenting Special Children, a Theale-based charity that empowers families of neurodivergent children and young people, children with special needs or disabilities, and those affected by early life trauma. PSC provides a wide range of specialist services for families, children, young people, and professionals, holding families through challenging times to ensure no one feels alone. Their philosophy, “Prevention before Crisis”, underpins all their work, helping families navigate the complex world of SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).

Founded in 2006 by Ruth Pearse, a parent of neurodivergent children, PSC has grown from a one-person operation into a team of over 40 specialists. Today, they support over 2,500 families across the region, providing practical guidance, emotional support, and a sense of community. A number of Trinity Concert Band members have personally benefited from PSC’s services, highlighting the tangible impact of their work.
Trinity Concert Band looks forward to raising awareness and funds for PSC over the coming year through concerts, events, and community engagement, continuing its long-standing tradition of supporting local charities.
More than Music
The More than Music campaign began in 2021 as a way for Trinity Concert Band to actively engage with and support the local community. Each year, band members nominate and vote for a new charity partner, and the chosen organisation benefits from a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign across the band’s events. Since its launch, the More than Music campaign has raised over £4,000 for local charities.

First Fundraising Event
Trinity Concert Band invites the public to join them at their first fundraising event for Parenting Special Children: their annual Christmas concert at Reading Minster on Sunday 14th December 2025. It will be an evening of festive music, community spirit, and the first of many opportunities to support PSC in the year ahead.
