Local Band Wow Judges at National Festival
Reading-based Trinity Concert Band have been awarded a Platinum Award for their exceptional performance at the National Concert Band Festival. This is the highest award achievable and recognises the band’s musical excellence and dedication to community music-making.
Local band, Trinity Concert Band, have been awarded a Platinum Award from the National Concert Band Festival for their exemplary performance this year at the regional level competition in Warwick on Sunday 6th November. This is considered one of the highest honours attainable in recognition of musical excellence by any community wind ensemble in the UK. This yearly event brings together some of the best ensembles from all over south and central Britain, vying for accolades in various categories judged upon different aspects such as technical ability, interpretation, sound quality etc. Besides an adjudication panel comprising eminent figures from the world of music, the festival also offers the opportunity for participants to network with like-minded people passionate about band music-making.
Bands enter into a regional festival where they perform in front of their peers, audience, and NCBF adjudicators who offer feedback based on the NCBF Award Criteria. Bands are not competing against each other but are critiqued against the various aspects of performance and are awarded a certificate signifying their success: Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze. The bands who perform at the higher standards are then invited to the annual NCBF National Festival. Trinity Concert Band are excited to have received automatic entry to the National Festival, due to take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in April, and are already busily planning their programme of music for the event!
