Rehearsals of the exciting music being prepared for our main Autumn Concert in the Bearwood Theatre are well underway. Our aim, as always, is to provide a very enjoyable evening to our loyal audience, and the programme for this event has been carefully devised to present "something for everyone" with some surprises too!

The general Box Office is now open and ticket sales are already going well, and 16 th October promises to be another wonderful evening of music in the special atmosphere of the Bearwood Theatre

This was my first meeting with Earley's own Wind Band and what an eye opener it was.

Their supporters turned out in droves on a cold damp night filling every seat in the theatre. The presentation of the band on stage from their smart uniforms, seats and music stands, not to mention the lighting and sound, was very professional.

Under their music director, Michael Steele, the band played a nicely varied programme. Too many to mention individually, I particularly liked the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Handel) by a woodwind quartet from the Band, Les Parapluis de Cherbourg (Le Grand) and John Williams' Symphonic Marches.

Dance of the Cuckoos (better known as Laurel and Hardy's theme music) and a wonderful selection from West Side Story.

Guest Soloist, Joan Passsmore (Soprano) sung Caro Nome from Rigoletto and If I Loved You from Carousel which was very well received. Caribbean Clipper, a nice toe tapping medley of tunes from tropical climes preceeded the last item, the timeless Irving Berlin classic, Putting on the Ritz, which was super.

A most enjoyable evening.
