About Us

Trinity Concert Band is a symphonic wind band and our repertoire exploits all the possiblities such an ensemble can offer. We play music from a wide range of sources – classical transcriptions, original band compositions, music from stage and screen, pop and swing as well as the traditional marches!

The Band performs 6 to 8 formal concerts a year; the challenge is to produce different programmes that both stimulate the band and entertain our audiences.  When the Band surveyed its audience early on 2008 it discovered, not surprisingly, that our audiences’ tastes were catholic and wide-ranging. What they really appreciate in a concert is variety, which is a key element in our programme selection. At least 25% of the music is brand-new to the band (and possibly to the audience too!). Some of this music is extremely challenging.  This level of new material requires hard work as we typically have only about 10 rehearsals for each concert. In a typical year Trinity Band will play about 60 different pieces of music!

Another key feature of our concert programmes is the number of solos/duets/ensembles, encouraging as many players as possible, not just the “chosen few”, to have their 5 minutes of fame! This inclusive policy has helped to develop the confidence of the players.
